Entering the National Phase of Ukraine for a PCT Patent Application — Price

The cost of entering the national phase of Ukraine for a PCT patent application consists of government fees and professional services of a patent attorney.

All further amounts are indicated in USD. The stated prices may slightly fluctuate depending on the current exchange rate of the national currency of Ukraine.

Government Fees for the National Patent Application in Ukraine

The amounts mentioned are minimal for one independent and two dependent claims (patent claims).

For the applicant — a legal entity: The minimum number of government fees includes four payments:

• 40 USD for filing the national application in Ukraine and conducting a formal examination;
• 150 USD for the substantive examination (novelty, inventive step, industrial applicability);
• 100 USD for issuing the patent in Ukraine;
• 50 USD for publishing information about the patent issuance. The total fee for a legal entity can be: 340 USD

If the applicant is an individual and simultaneously the inventor, the basic fees are reduced by 90% (except for the fee for patent issuance). The total fees for an individual inventor can be: 125 USD

Price of Patent Attorney Services in Ukraine for Entering the PCT Application into the National Phase

• 8 USD per 100 words for translating the patent application text from English to Ukrainian;
• 700 USD for accepting representation, refining drawings, filing the application, establishing priority, paying fees, handling office actions, responding to formal requests, informing the client about the application status and documents from the patent office, notifying the client about the content of documents in English (without full translation), and performing ongoing actions;
• 200 USD for ordering the substantive examination;
• 150 USD for receiving the Ukrainian patent;
• 100 USD (DHL) for sending the patent to the client, regular mail — free of charge.

The price may be adjusted by agreement depending on the application’s subject matter, claim volume, and urgency.

In practice, the approximate cost of patent attorney services for entering a PCT application into the national phase in Ukraine may range from 700 to 1100 USD. Additionally, the cost of translating the PCT patent application into Ukrainian may be 300 USD or more, depending on the text volume and complexity.
